MY ROLE
I joined Spellbound for a short period between Luck and Swapped as a Character Surfacing Artist. During that time I surfaced a couple of the film's animal characters and one human character, combining procedural materials built in Substance Designer and Substance Painter with hand-painted detail.
Beyond my own assets, my main contribution was bringing over the character surfacing workflows and know-how developed on Luck, helping the team get up to speed and move forward faster, before I moved on to lead character surfacing on Swapped.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
When a spell turns her parents into monsters, Princess Ellian embarks on an epic quest to reverse the curse before it's too late. This twist on happily ever after is directed by Vicky Jenson (Shrek) with an original score from EGOT-winning composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast) and lyrics by Glenn Slater (Tangled).
A Netflix film from Skydance Animation released in November 2024, Spellbound features a voice cast led by Rachel Zegler, John Lithgow, Jenifer Lewis, Nathan Lane, Tituss Burgess, Javier Bardem and Nicole Kidman.
